as most people know, willie mays was a baseball legend. but most people don’t know all of the things that make him so legendary. 

 

willie mays was born, lived, and died on earth in different years. from an early age, willie was always one way or another, doing the things that made him known or unknown in his area. he had a certain way of doing things and enjoyed doing things that he enjoyed.

 

at some point in willie’s life, he started to excel at a sport called baseball. in baseball, you use a bat, or body part, to hit a ball, or body part, that is thrown at your head or other body part. some would call this sport pretty popular. willie was able to throw the ball better than other people. he was also more skilled at hitting the ball with a bat and that sounds exciting for some reason.

 

willie made it to the big leagues during his lifetime. one day, as he was walking home or driving home from the baseball field, something caught his eye. actually something caught both of his eyes. there it was, wherever he was. a baseball card featuring a well-known or unknown baseball player. willie instantly felt a deep connection to this baseball card. he knew that fate had brought them together.

 

let’s fast forward a few years in his story. willie has invited reader’s digest over for an interview. we are seated in a space and are being served a beverage which we enjoy very much. willie talks about his favorite day of all - his wedding day. you see, a few years ago, willie mays married the baseball card of his dreams.

 

there was a legendary problem that came with marrying a baseball card. willie had hundreds of thousands of paper cuts on his lips from kissing his spouse. but willie always said it was worth it! sometimes it’s hard to be a baseball legend.
